Re: Listing the server on OT server list's
We don't want to be in any way affiliated with that website, as it is favors spoofing and is highly unreliable. Many servers on that list spoof their online numbers by faking their counter, adding zombie characters or purposely allowing multi-clienting/botting. We consider spoofing a scam, and we don't want to be put next to that. It is among our highest priorities to ensure that behind every character on the Tibiantis online list there is a living person and an active player. The otservlist doesn't offer anything to differ such servers from the rest - contrary, it works fully in favor of the spoofing ones as it ranks all the servers mostly by their (fake) online numbers. The buisness model of that website is straight based on pushing server owners to compete in those scam practices, because it makes money of it (you have to pay extra to be in the list if you exceed a certain number of "players" online).
Besides, it is obsolete and its advertising value is nowadays close to zero. It only exists because some hosters still believe in its advertising power. In reality, the vast majority of servers that advertise there die after a month or so. Tibiantis has been around for over 4 years now and is still going relatively strong.
